ABOUT US > WE GO GREEN!

According a Carbon Footprint report, Anders Languages® generates approx. 500 tons of Carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. We do not want to enter into the (political) discussion on whether CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming or not, but we prefer to suppose they are…

Only a very small part of the 500 tons of CO2 we produce is generated by our immersion residence; energy consumption at the residence is limited. We use fluorescent light bulbs and our computers are modern energy-saving devices… And due to our location and the year-round spring-like climate where we live, energy consumption for AC and heating is insignificant…

However, due the nature of our business, the CO2 we produce is the result of the air travel of our guests, who visit us for a course… And since we can’t ask our guests to visit us using their bicycles, we need to offset carbon emissions. Offsetting carbon emissions means “paying off” CO2 emissions by donating money to projects inversing CO2 emissions investing in reforestation, renewable energy…

Analyzing data, we figured out that our guests travel an average of 4,962 miles / 7,987 Km to visit us… This equals more than 0.8 tons of CO2 IF all of them would fly coach and direct. But as that’s not the case, we have increased this amount to 1.2 tons of CO2 on average, also taking into account CO2 emissions for car travel to and from the airport… Now, offsetting this (investing money to convert 1.2 tons of CO2 into pure air) costs between USD 6.60 and USD 32.88…: depending on the source. Anyway, the average cost is USD 14.85.

As a result, for every guest who visits us, we donate USD 20 to specialized profit and non-profit organizations that will neutralize our CO2 emissions.

We believe that this policy contributes to a better world for our children and grandchildren, while it does not affect in any way the service we offer to our guests. For more details, don’t hesitate to contact us.
