In 2010, Mexican cuisine became part of a small group of countries and regions whose food is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Mexico's cultural and natural diversity is best shown through its food. With your Spanish instructors, you will visit the colorful markets. You will learn about the ingredients and try them in the traditional food stalls, where women prepare simple but delicious dishes.

SPAIN

Spain has got some of the best food in the world. Paella, Spanish omelet, and Iberian ham are world-famous. But there's more to it than that. The country has got hundreds of miles of rivers and is surrounded by the Cantabrian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic. All that water means lots of great seafood. And of course, Spain also has some of the best wines in the world.

Definitely, Spain is so much more than paella, Iberian ham, olives and wine. I had a great time eating fresh fish in a chiringuito on the beach surrounded by the dunes of La Doñana national Park. Or having a meal at the local foodmarket, where everything is prepared with fresh ingredients straight from the counter. And of course, preparing an arroz negro during a cooking class. This was a great way to improve my Spanish! And good to know: although you can eat tortillas in Spain and Mexico, they are different things :-)
