Sevilla, SPAIN
Sevilla in a nutshell
Needless to say, the roots of the Spanish language lie in Spain...
And if you want to understand the Spanish language through its culture, gastronomy and history, SEVILLA is the place to be!
Sevilla is the fourth largest city in Spain, with a population of 1,550,000 (as of the 2020 census), including the metropolitan area. Tourism and agro-industry are the main economic activities. The government is an important employer, as the city is the capital of Andalucía. Sevilla is also home to an Airbus factory.
The Casa de Contratación was established in 1503 to regulate commerce between Spain and the New World. Although the origins of the city date back to 206 BC when it became part of the Roman Empire, Seville became the richest and most populated city in Spain and one of the most important in the world during the 16th century.
Three UNESCO Heritage Sites: The Cathedral and Giralda (12th century), the Royal Alcázar (11th century), and the General Archive of the Indies. Other important landmarks include the Juderia and Triana neighborhoods, Italica (206 BC), the Royal Tobacco Factory, the Plaza de España, and much more
The sun shines on average 3,000 hours per year. Seville has a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate. Spring and fall are the best months to visit, but summer and winter are fine too. It can be hot in summer, but it cools down at night. Winters are mild, but some days can be rainy.
The Spanish immersion residence
The ANDERS LANGUAGES immersion residence is the cornerstone of your Spanish course.
This is where you will receive your classes and enjoy meals with your instructors and fellow students.
Accommodations are offered under the same roof. Our guests have their own air-conditioned rooms with private baths and room service.
The premises include a garden, a terrace with hot tub, and a swimming pool. Our guests have access to the kitchen, but during your immersion, our cook, Olga, will take care of the meals. Drinks and snacks are available free of charge 24/7.
The immersion residence is in Aznalcázar, a small town 20–25 minutes from downtown Seville. Public transportation, taxis, and Uber are available to and from Seville.
Although part of the metropolitan area of Sevilla, Aznalcázar is a typical Spanish town of almost 5,000 inhabitants with 14 bars, 3 restaurants, several banks, and 2 supermarkets. It's also home to Las Minas Golf Club (9 holes), two hotels, two public schools, a small day-hospital, and a sports center with a soccer field, tennis courts, a gym, and a semi-Olympic pool (summer only). All of these amenities are within walking distance.
The town's history dates back to Roman times, when it was a fortified town. Only a few ruins remain from those days.
Located on the edges of La Doñana National Park, Aznalcázar is also known by the inhabitants of Sevilla for its Pine Forest, where you can spot black kites, white storks, and the Iberic Lynx among a lot of other species. Mountain bikes are available at no cost for a 5-minute ride to the Pine Forest..
Sevilla San José Special.
